Weather
2.E.2A. Weather is the combination of sunlight, wind, precipitation (rain, sleet, snow, and hail), and temperature in a particular region at a particular time. Scientists measure and record these conditions to describe the weather and to identify patterns over time. Weather scientists (meteorologists) forecast severe weather so that communities can prepare for and respond to these events.
Sunlight, wind, precipitation, and temperature make up the weather for an area.
Sunlight is light that comes from the sun. Clouds can make it seem like there is less sunlight in an area.

Wind is moving air. When the wind is blowing it can move objects.
Precipitation is water that falls from clouds. Rain, sleet, hail, and snow are all forms of precipitation.
Temperature tells us how warm or cold something is. We use thermometers to measure temperature.
Scientists who study weather are called meteorologists. Meteorologists study weather patterns and make predictions about future weather. An important part of a meteorologists job is predicting sever weather (like hurricanes, floods, thunderstorms, and blizzards) so that we can stay safe!
